Membership Covenant
Having been brought by divine grace to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ and to give ourselves wholly to him,1 and having been baptized into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,2 we do now solemnly and joyfully covenant with each to walk together in him with familial love,3 to the glory of our Lord.4
Therefore, in his strength we promise that we will exercise a Christian care5 and watchfulness over each other6 and faithfully warn,7 exhort,8 admonish,9 encourage,10 forgive,11 and help12 each other as occasion may require; That we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together,13 but will uphold the public worship of God14 and the means of grace;15 That we will not sow division, but will affectionately seek the unity of the church,16 submitting to the Scriptures as the final arbiter of all matters of faith and practice,17 upholding our confession of faith,18 and recognizing the elders as shepherds and overseers of the church;19 That we will follow the biblical practices of church discipline and that we will submit ourselves to the discipline of the church should we go astray;20 That we will not neglect private21 and family worship at home, nor neglect the great duty of biblically instructing our children and those under our care, for the service of Christ and the enjoyment of the coming glory.22
Because we are the light of the world and salt of the earth,23 we will seek divine aid to enable us to deny ungodliness and every worldly lust;24 To walk faithfully in the world that we may win the souls of our neighbors;25 To cheerfully contribute of our property as God as prospered us,26 for the maintenance of a faithful and gospel ministry among us,27 for the support of the poor and widows and orphans,28 and to spread the gospel over the earth.29 And should we move on from this church, we will do so in a way that honors the spirit of this covenant and join with another church wherein we can live according to these principles.30
Furthermore, we will in all conditions even until death strive to live to the glory of him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light;31 And may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make us perfect in every good work, to do his will, working in us that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.32
