We believe the local church is people and place.
Every Sunday morning, Veritas gathers to worship and receive from God, and to encourage one another. We don't gather on Sundays to check a box, to earn anything from God, or to be entertained, but to devote ourselves to hearing the Gospel, celebrating baptisms and the Lord's Supper, and to sing and pray to God our Father. All are welcome whether you're a seeker, skeptic, or believer to come and learn more about what it means to follow Jesus.
The vision for City Groups is pretty simple: as followers of Jesus, we want to share life and serve our city with other followers of Jesus. We want to share life with one another because we were created for, redeemed for, and are formed by our relationships. A life of following Jesus, according to the Scriptures, is a life shared with other followers of Jesus. And we serve the city of Dayton together, because we've been so tremendously served by Jesus.
WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is a church’s act of affirming and portraying a believer's salvation in Christ by immersing them in water, and a believer’s act of publicly committing themselves to Christ and his people, thereby uniting a believer to the church and marking off them from the world
WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZEd?
If someone has made a genuine profession of faith, then he or she ought to be baptized (Matthew 28:18-19). We encourage you to follow Christ’s command to be baptized as a public profession of your faith in him. We would love to walk with you through considering this opportunity to announce the change that has taken place in your life, and proclaim that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. If you haven’t made a commitment to Jesus, we would still love to hear from you to answer any questions you may have and help you to learn more about what it means to be a Christian.
HOW CAN I TAKE THIS STEP?
Baptism Sundays will happen every so often at Veritas Dayton during our gathering. All who desire to be or want to explore being baptized will meet with a pastor before making that decision. This meeting does not mean that you are obligated to be baptized, but serves as a way to hear more about what baptism is and how we practice it.
Foundations Class covers the basics of what we believe together, how we live together, and what we hope for together as a church family. You’ll also get the chance to engage by meeting and asking questions of Veritas leadership. Foundations is required to be baptized at Veritas and to become a member of Veritas. We hope you’ll join our family, to be transformed by the gospel and make disciples in Dayton with the gospel.
