We Love Because He First Loved Us

Veritas Community Church is a family of Christians that gather together every Lord’s Day morning to participate in the liturgy of God’s people.  Liturgy is simply what people do when they come together.  Our Gathered Worship Liturgy is modeled after what we see God’s people doing when they gather in the Bible which includes the public reading and preaching of Scripture, the administration of baptism and communion, and the response of God’s people in prayer and praise.

Since Veritas’ Sunday Gatherings are not a performance, but a participation of all people, we can all prepare for the Gathering by reviewing the liturgy ahead of time and praying that God would use it to build us up as his church.  We can also continue to worship God as a church throughout the week by participating in Family Worship and Private Worship in our homes, as outlined in their liturgies below.

Veritas Community Church continues worshiping God throughout the week in all aspects of our lives.  Family Worship is simply coming together for 10 minutes a day with those we live with to refocus our worship on God through the means of reading and praying the Bible that God has supplied.

What you can do:

1   READ 1 John 4:13-21 together.

2   PRAY in response to the text, or the prayer of the week from the Private Worship Guide.

3   ASK and answer question #13 in the New City Catechism.

4   SING the song ‘Come Thou Fount’

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise

Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

If you have more than 10 minutes, and would like to do more, you can:

• Discuss the sermon passage or points from the sermon
• Read other readings from the Gathered Worship Liturgy, or try to memorize them
• Pray for members of your household and your city group
• Pray for the Elders, and other members and attenders of Veritas
• Pray for neighbors and/or coworkers who have not yet heard the gospel
• Pray for nations that have unreached people groups
• Memorize the Catechism question and read from the New City Catechism devotional
• Memorize another catechism (Heidelberg, Westminster, North Star, Boys and Girls)
• Sing another song

We continue worshiping God as a church by devoting time each morning to reading and praying the Bible in private.  We can participate in this by following the readings and prayers found in Sunday's bulletin.

O God of love, I give you thanks that you have loved us by sending your Son and giving us your Spirit. Help me to be so filled with your love that I might love you with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and my neighbors as myself, for the sake of Jesus's glory and name; Amen.

APR 6 - Living City Project, 8:30AM-NOON

Veritas is excited to participate in the "Living City Project" with the City of Dayton, Dayton Inspires, and local churches to help clean up neighborhoods across the city. This event is family friendly and all you have to do is bring work gloves! We are encouraging you to register for this event in YOUR neighborhood using the link below. If you do not reside in the city or your neighborhood isn't listed, we’d love for you to join many of us in the Huffman neighborhood with our hosts and friends at Linden Ave. Baptist Church. Link to register: https://declare.org/livingcityproject. Contact Mike Squire (mgsquire0404@gmail.com) with questions or for more info.

During the service next week, we will have the membership vows for more new covenant members. Please make it a priority to be there to welcome them into the body of Veritas!

Is there anything good about a man's crucifixion and death? Can this be where we find hope and salvation? Join us for our evening Good Friday service as we meditate upon the immense work that Christ accomplished for us on the cross.

We look forward to gathering on Easter Sunday to celebrate Christ's resurrection together! In the coming weeks we will have invitation cards for you to hand out to family and friends, as well as resources to post on social media. Please be praying about who you can invite to come hear the glorious news of the gospel!
