Confessing the Christ

Veritas Community Church is a family of Christians that gather together every Lord’s Day morning to participate in the liturgy of God’s people.  Liturgy is simply what people do when they come together.  Our Gathered Worship Liturgy is modeled after what we see God’s people doing when they gather in the Bible which includes the public reading and preaching of Scripture, the administration of baptism and communion, and the response of God’s people in prayer and praise.

Since Veritas’ Sunday Gatherings are not a performance, but a participation of all people, we can all prepare for the Gathering by reviewing the liturgy ahead of time and praying that God would use it to build us up as his church.  We can also continue to worship God as a church throughout the week by participating in Family Worship and Private Worship in our homes, as outlined in their liturgies below.

Veritas Community Church continues worshiping God throughout the week in all aspects of our lives.  Family Worship is simply coming together for 10 minutes a day with those we live with to refocus our worship on God through the means of reading and praying the Bible that God has supplied.

What you can do:

1   READ 1 John 2:18-27 together

2   PRAY in response to the text, or the prayer of the week from the Private Worship Guide.

3   ASK and answer question #7 in the New City Catechism.

4   SING the song ‘In Christ Alone’

In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This Cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My Comforter, my All in All

Here in the love of Christ I stand

If you have more than 10 minutes, and would like to do more, you can:

• Discuss the sermon passage or points from the sermon
• Read other readings from the Gathered Worship Liturgy, or try to memorize them
• Pray for members of your household and your city group
• Pray for the Elders, and other members and attenders of Veritas
• Pray for neighbors and/or coworkers who have not yet heard the gospel
• Pray for nations that have unreached people groups
• Memorize the Catechism question and read from the New City Catechism devotional
• Memorize another catechism (Heidelberg, Westminster, North Star, Boys and Girls)
• Sing another song

We continue worshiping God as a church by devoting time each morning to reading and praying the Bible in private.  We can participate in this by following the readings and prayers found in Sunday's bulletin.

Prayer for the week: Lord, let your continual mercy cleanse and defend your Church; and, because we cannot continue in safety without your help, protect and govern us always by your goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We will be holding a brief interest meeting right after service in the balcony for anyone wanting to meet our leaders and learn more about Veritas or covenant membership! Whether you're a new visitor or regular attender, the pastors would love to get to know you more and help answer any questions you might have about our church!

Join us for our second frontline prayer meeting, as we seek to grow in corporate prayer and cry out to God for renewal in our church and in our city! If you’re interested in helping facilitate or host in the coming months, please contact Bashar and Brittany Antoon. Learn more at:

HOST: Bashar + Brittany Antoon

Mark your calendars! Our next member meeting will be Sunday March 24th at 4:30PM. If you're interested in helping out with this event, please contact Julia Brown at
